Counselling and Coaching
I have a private counselling and coaching practice and I also currently work as a social worker in the healthcare field.
I have 18 years of experience working with individuals in a variety of settings as a case worker, program coordinator, counsellor and social worker. My experience includes working with people who have coped with eating disorders, abuse, grief and loss, mental health and addiction issues, as well as chronic health conditions and disabilities.
I have a Master of Social Work degree (MSW) from the University of Victoria BC, and I am a Registered Social Worker in BC. I hold certifications in Substance Use from the Justice Institute of BC and in Professional Recovery Coaching (CPRC) from the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches. I have specialized training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Yoga, and Trauma-Informed Practice.
I live in Vancouver BC on unceded beautiful Coast Salish territory. When I'm not working, I am often enjoying the outdoors. I truly believe in the restorative and healing power of nature and encourage my clients to incorporate nature into their wellness plans if possible.
Exploration, Discovery, and Healing
Counselling is a collaborative process that can assist people to explore their current situation, past experiences and future goals. It can help you to really identify the issues that are troubling you- which could be external stressors, and/or it could be more internally based factors such as beliefs, thoughts, or patterns of behaviour. Counselling can help people to develop solutions, build skills and coping strategies which can make life much more peaceful and enjoyable.
In my practice, I support people to deal with issues that are negatively impacting them or causing them suffering. This can often manifest in the form of low self-esteem, depression, stress and anxiety, and struggles with substance use or addictive/destructive behaviours. Counselling can help people explore the reasons why they are suffering, learn how to deal with this, and find new ways of seeing and being. I also help people adjust to major changes such as health conditions, illness/injuries, relationship changes/loss, and other significant life transitions.
I believe that change is possible for everyone. It is not easy, however, and counselling can help. My counselling style is client-centred and holistic in nature, and I draw on cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, solution focused counselling and other modalities. Some people find relief and solutions in a few sessions, others can find long-term counselling beneficial.

Support To Reach Your Goals
Recovery coaching is a dynamic goal oriented practice which focusses on recovery from addiction to substances and behaviours. In this practice, I partner with you to identify goals you would like to work towards, build a sustainable recovery plan, and support you to overcome challenges and obstacles that may arise along the way. This can be useful for those who have identified they have a substance use issue or addictive behaviour, feel ready to make change, and are looking for professional support and guidance.
Coaching can also assist people to develop skills and coping strategies and find what works for them as an individual. This can work alongside traditional recovery programs or work for those who haven’t found that traditional programs work for them. I work from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective in this practice, which means that we consider all areas of your life when creating a lasting recovery plan.
We can all recover from addiction with the right support, and I believe that there are many pathways to recovery. Recovery coaching is most successful when a person commits to regular sessions for a sustained period of time. Please contact me for options.
